The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) remains the critical first step to securing funds for postsecondary pathways.
With the historic investment by our state through the Community College Guarantee and Michigan Achievement Scholarship, college affordability will be vastly improved for many families. Eligibility for both of those programs and for all other needs-based financial aid grants depends on completing and filing a FAFSA.
The FAFSA Tracker provides accessible data for schools to better understand their current FAFSA completion rates. The FAFSA Tracker provides all public schools and public charter schools with an individual school profile displaying current and previous year FAFSA completion data. It is an important resource for schools to track their progress and` to easily highlight the successes. The FAFSA data displayed on the tracker is provided by MI Student Aid.
As of 01/19/26, there were 39,888 (35%) students in the Class of 2026 who completed a FAFSA.
At this time last year, there were 29,186 (25.6%) students in the Class of 2025 who completed a FAFSA.
A total of 67,365 (56.9%) students in the Class of 2025 completed the FAFSA by 9/30/2025.
